~ Added Ailment immunity to Sims like a Fulfilled Life. Additionally, ailments are a little less likely for Sims who are leading Happy or Reasonable lives. I haven’t made ailments more likely for those struggling with life fulfillment at this point because they feel fairly frequent as it is, so I felt it would be overkill.

~ Small update for the Optional No Fulfillment package from Hopes & Fears to fix an issue of the Balance UI with the new EP. It can be found here.
The Hopes & Fears Mod is a continuous Work In Progress. What this means is I’ll be adding more content to it over time, including more custom Wants and custom Fears.
This mod is an overhaul of the Wants & Fears system. For information on the individual fears, as well as Custom Fears, view the specific page HERE.
- Lot51’s Core Library ~ It doesn’t add anything to the game, it just allows the mod to work as intended. This is essential.
- Custom Wants Mod ~ This is a loader mod for all my custom wants, so if you want my new custom-made wants, you’ll need to download this too.
➡️ The Hopes & Fears Mod overhauls whimsets for Traits, Aspirations, Careers, Skills and more by adding new Wants to these sets, specifically custom ones.
➡️ It adds whimsets for the Traits, Aspirations, Careers, Skills, Lifestyles and more from later packs that didn’t have them as well as Base Game ones, such as Child Aspirations.
➡️
It also adds whimsets for certain situations, such as Having a Bad Day at Work and Having a Cheating Partner. Now your Sims will put it appropriate Wants for these situations, including going on a Date.
➡️ It overhauls the whimsets for venues, so you’ll get some appropriate Reactionary Wants when visiting some venues (to be developed further).
➡️ Finally, it upgrades the Whims Maxis Left Behind into Wants and re-adds them to whimsets. It also contains whimsets for the Child, Toddler and Elder life stages.
This mod expands on the Life Fulfillment system Maxis introduced which determines how satisfied your Sim is with life. Details on this feature can be found on it’s own page here.
This mod also adds new Fears to be developed by your Sims after certain situations (development of a Fear is not a guarantee; in other words, not every Sim will develop a Fear). It also overhauls existing Fears. Details on Fears can be found here.
❌This will conflict with bienchien’s Whim Overhaul mod, since they do edit the same whimsets in many places.
❌This will conflict with BrickLion’s Wants & Fears Reaction mods, since they do edit many of the same files.
❌This will conflict with mods that edit the Fear of the Dark, Fear of Unfullfilled Dreams and Fear of Dead End Job in any way. Simply delete those files if you wish to use a different mod in conjunction with this one.
❌This will conflict with mods that edit the file commodity_Sim_Fulfillment, including BrickLion’s Sim Fulfillment Overhaul.
✔️It is compatible with any other mod adding Custom Fears.
This mod is Base Game Compatible.
It is split into multiple folders based on pack, 🚨so you must delete the folders for packs you don’t have.🚨 I cannot stress this enough.
Similarly, the Fears are in their own folders and you can delete those if you do not wish to have the new Fears in your game.

~ Sims outside the active household do also have a decrease in fulfillment. Life events will boost their fulfillment too but since they won’t be completing wants, they may end up with less satisfaction over life. I have attempted to reduce the likelihood of them hitting rock bottom as frequently as they did during testing but further feedback and refinement may be necessary. I am still actively working on overcoming this issue. ~ There is a hopeful fix to this in Version 3.1, so please make sure you’re updated to this update.

Hi! Is there a way to download just whimsets for Hopes and Fears mod without Life Fulfilment? I really love your whimsets and they are must have in my game as I play wants driven gameplay, however Life Fulfilment although it is fun idea, it doesn’t blend well into rotational gameplay – anytime I switch to different family, they have unsatisfying life and they are constantly sad. Once I manage to get their life fulfilment to a decent level I need to switch to a different family and the struggle starts once over again. It’s nice to have a little challange, but in rotational gameplay it is overtaking whole gameplay 🙂

Is there a way to remove the moodlets that comes with this mod? I really like the mod itself, but I feel like the moodlets can be annoying or too strong. My gloomy sim won’t be sad anymore unless someone actually dies as the happy moodlet from this mod is too strong.

I use a translator because I don’t speak English. I’m sorry if something is not clear. I wanted to clarify: Where before there were ordinary fears (such as fear of fire, fear of loneliness), now there are ordinary desires (for example, to talk with such a character, to eat, etc.). Is this normal or did I install something wrong?

while the wants to confront fears do show up, the interactions don’t appear for me. my child sim wanted to confront their fear of dark, but the interaction to talk about it to adults didn’t appear. what should I do? the mod and game are updated

sorry, I had no more children in my household (they grew up) so I waited for another fear with an interaction want to develop and the want to show up. I had a sim develop the fear of getting cheated on, and the interaction of talk about relationship fears showed up! I did update the mod. if I get another child with the fear of the dark I’ll come back here

I feel so silly, my xml injector needed an update! it isn’t listed as an requirement here, but I read your credits lists and saw it there so I decided to see if it had a new update and it did! the lot51 core was updated, the problem was xml injector. thank you for your help! could you list the xml injector in the requirements list? I think it would help a lot other people with this problem

I currently have a sim who has had a fear of the dark since she was a child (she’s a young adult now). She never got a want to confront it, and I just managed to have her outside at night while confident, and the fear didn’t go away. I don’t mind it much, it feels like a quirk for her, but am I doing something wrong?

She should (as a child) have been able to talk to a parent. Did that option never come up?

Oh no, she’ll still be able to confront it the normal way; unfortunately, you usually have to wait for the Want to come up!

I would like to ask about fears system because I haven’t found explanation neither here nor in fears page.
In vanilla version “fears whims” only refer to overcoming fear, for example “swim confidently for 1 hour”. After installing mod in this spot I have many other “fear whims”, for example “practice programming”. Are those wants also related to fears and help overcome them? Could you explain more how your system works? Thank you and also big kudos to you for making this mod, it makes my wants driven gameplay way more in-depth!

In this mod, I’ve allowed other whims to appear where there used to be only Fear Whims. Fear whims will still appear (and will have the description of “From Fear Of…”) and can now be pinned. So unless the whim mentions being from a particular fear, it won’t work to overcome it 🙂

Would it be possible to upload the custom contents separately from EA Override?
I just checked my mods and when I took this out, “Fear of Being Judged”, “Fear of Disappointing Parents”, and “Fear of Failing Classes” appeared in my game for the first time, which have never appeared before playing with your mod.
That’s why I would like to use only the new fears and wants. 🙂

Go into the mod folder and open the Fears folder. Delete the files relating to the fears you don’t want. Then my changes will be gone.

Could it be solved that the Fulfillment of not active families would lock and not change until we play with them again? Also that NPCs don’t have it?

Genuinely one of my MUST HAVE mods for this game. You have no idea how mush more fun the sims is for me ever since I downloaded this, thank you! One problem I’m having though is that my sim keeps canceling actions like cooking and cleaning and right after canceling, they’d do this gasping as if something shocking just happened lol. I took this mod out of my mods folder and the problem stopped which upsets me to no end bc of how essential this mod is for me to enjoy the game 😦 Still tho, I appreciate all that you do for the community, thanks again!

Hii speaking of I wanted to report it seems that this conflicts with Sim Realist Private Practice. I removed everything until only these two mods and xml injector were left. and I kept getting error 115. They are both up to date. I am choosing to keep your mod but just an fyi! I noticed lovestruck added a new fear (fear of being alone) that is triggered with an unsatisfied romantic satisfaction. I didn’t see it included in the file so I wasn’t sure if you were aware of it.

Hi, I recently added this mod to my game and noticed that filling modded wants only give 5 points. Is that issue with this mod or…? I have lot core mod.

That’s by design. The satisfaction points given are now proportional to the type of want. So wants for small things, like interactions, will give five points only but bigger wants, like getting married, will give more (usually somewhere between 200 and 300).
So not an issue but by design 🙂

Hi Missy thank you for all that you do ❤ I used Whim Overhaul for ages but I want to switch to Hopes & Fears. It seems you have put a lot more thought into H&F and have continued adding dynamic changes which I really like. When you say H&F considers Traits for whimsets, do you also add those for custom traits like from Chingyu/VickySims or Kiarasims? I’m curious since many of my sims use custom traits only.

I hadn’t, largely because of the sheer amount of work that would entail. Do those traits not include whimsets already?
If not, then at some point, I may well see what I can do, with their permissions, of course. I’d never thought about it to be honest (I usually use Kuttoe’s traits if I’m going to use custom) but this isn’t a bad idea at all!

Hi, I don’t have the new EP yet and was finally starting to update my mods. Since there has been updates for Lovestruck will I get errors since I will not have the pack? If there will be errors is there a way to download version 3.0.4 until I can’ get the pack?

No, you’ll be just fine. If you’re really worried, you can just remove the Lovestruck folder in the mod – move it to desktop and add it back when you have the pack.
Everything else was an update for the patch and will be perfectly fine. So you’ve nothing to worry about! 🙂

Hi ! Is there a way to have no fullfilment at all ? because each time i need to clic on each sims individually in each game to cheat the remove fullfilment. Is there a file i can remove to have this feature turn off permanently ? Everybody is sad because of this… I’d love this mod but without the life fulfillment feature… Thank you so much!

No, there isn’t. The wants are integral to the fulfillment and vice versa.
If the feature is bothering you, you might want to look at BrickLion’s Wants and Fears mods; they’re more modular than this one.

Hello! Thank you for this mod, it is one of my must haves. However, I wanted to report an issue I’ve been having since the fulfillment update. I’m on v. 3.0.3.1 and used the cheat to remove life fulfillment from my sim, but the ‘mediocre life’ moodlet reappears every time I start the game or return to live mode after editing in CAS.
You mentioned it might come back after aging up, but I have aging off and haven’t aged any sims. It just returns every time I reload the household. Also, it is not only on one sim, but happens on all the ones I have cheated to remove life fulfillment. They are YA/Adults if that makes any difference.

Okay, I’ll check.
The thing is because it’s a Maxis feature, it’s set to be added to the Sim when they’re instanced (being when they spawn) and it’s tied to the age traits. So I might need to look at a longer term solution.
I will warn you that it’s not a priority for me to look at, given that it’s not the intended use for the mod or the feature. In other words, I don’t know when I’ll get around to looking at it.

Wondering if you would consider separating out the Life Fulfillment feature? I love the idea for my single-family saves, but I’m struggling with it in my rotational save because of the decay aspect. Thanks either way. 🙂

I will be releasing an update on Saturday that enables the existing cheats for non-active Sims (so you can cheat them into whichever state you like) and I’ll be adding a cheat to remove the fulfillment statistic from individual Sims. So if it’s really bothering you, you can remove it but I won’t be doing separate versions.

LOL as much as I agree, I’m actively working on them NOT experiencing the decay if I can. I think I’ve found a solution so I’ll be testing over the next few days so hopefully, I’ll be bringing some joy this weekend!

I love this mod but as you wrote in an existing save all sims become sad. I have tried the cheat but when I click on the sims I want to change it only changes for the currently active sim. Did I do something wrong?

You’ve done nothing wrong – I have an update in the works which will enable the cheat for all Sims, in addition to a cheat to remove the statistic from any Sim. The update won’t be out for a couple of weeks because I’m spending time with family at the moment but it’ll be released as soon as I’m back. So don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong ❤

The page you have on life fulfillment suggests that the statistic is only for teen+, but after updating, when I load into an existing save it’s applied to my toddlers and children as well (and of course they’re miserable lol). Is that intended behavior?

No, it shouldn’t be applying to teens. I’ll look into it for you. It won’t be for a couple of weeks I’m afraid because I’m spending time with family but I’ll look at it as soon as I can.
