Skier Career

Changelog:
29th January 2024 ~ The file name has changed so delete the old version.
~ Added Dutch translation

To go nicely with my Snowboarder Career, I’ve created a Skier Career! Now your sims can choose between their extreme sports.

You Will Need:

  • Scumbumbo’s XML Injector ~ This allows the career to not need its own script file. The XML Injector loads the script for Paid Time Off and for the custom interactions. Don’t worry; the XML Injector doesn’t add anything to your game, it just allows this mod to work as intended.
  • The Custom Wants Mod ~ This is only needed for the whimset.

Technical Details:

The career has 10 levels and no additional branching.
There are 9 work from home assignments available should you wish to use them. Each assignment has a tooltip, explaining at which level of the skill the interaction unlocks. As a result, if your Sim has low Skiing skill, they may find some of the work from home assignments difficult to complete.
There are no daily tasks or uniforms.
The Skier career doesn’t require any university degree.
The career is fully compatible with the Lifestyles from Snowy Escape. If your Sim has the Adrenaline Seeker, Energetic or Outdoorsy Lifestyles, they will gain a performance boost. However if your Sim has the Sedentary or Indoorsy Lifestyle, they will see their performance gain a bit slower than normal.
The career has a whimset to help guide Sims to want to do activities relating to the career.

The career requires Snowy Escape and City Living for the work from home options (I assume City Living is needed for this but feel free to test at your own risk. Would love confirmation though).
The career is presently in:
~ English (Me)
~ Russian (Sauris)
~ French (Kimikosoma)
~ Dutch (GothiqueAngel)
~ Ukranian (mariliuiw, Download Here)
Translations are welcome! If you translate, send me the link to your translation and I’ll add the link to the post.

Career Details ~ Levels

➡️ Ski Student ~ A good first start for anyone interested in skiing professionally; proper lessons. Three times a week, you’re setting off for the slopes in Yukimatsu to pit yourself against the bunny slopes and develop a set of basic instincts when it comes to the hills. Your instructor will cheer, cry and feel despair whenever you reach the bottom; however you reach the bottom. Don’t be deterred by injury after injury because remember; it’s all worth it.
§20/hour
Hours: 12pm – 5pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Objectives: Reach Level 2 Skiing Skill
Learn About Skiing

➡️ Regional Contestant ~ You haven’t been crashing down the slopes in quite such a disorganized manner recently and your instructor thinks you’re ready to compete in some regional competitions, to give you the experience of competing against other talented skiers. It doesn’t matter if you don’t win; taking part is what counts and it’ll get your name recognised after a while.
§40/hour
Hours: 7am – 1pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 3 Skiing Skill

➡️ Cross-Country Contestant ~ The regional competitions have become quite easy for you now, so it’s time to try something a little more complex. There’s a major cross-country competition coming up in Mt Komorebi soon, with a biathlon shortly after. Your instructor thinks the experience in a bigger competition, with international skiers entering, could be good for you. Strap on those skis because this could be a bumpy ride!
§55/hour
Hours: 8am – 2pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 4 Skiing Skill
Research Skiing

➡️ Amateur Sponsored Skier ~ Your name is getting out in the skiing circles and you’ve got a sponsor! You’re an amateur skier and even though you’re still in regional competitions, and occasionally something bigger, you get some of your equipment for free! That allows a bigger bonus in your pay, since you hardly have to spend out now! Not bad for an amateur, is it?
§85/hour
Hours: 7am – 1pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 5 Skiing Skill
Reach Level 2 Fitness Skill

➡️ Pro-Am Skier ~ You’re more than an amateur, but not quite a pro yet. You’re hoping to get into some of the bigger competitions more consistently now. You still compete in the regionals, but you’re trying out for more international competitions than just the cross country and biathlon to really make your name. Keep practicing on the slopes of Yukimatsu in your free time and you might just get there.
§130/hour
Hours: 11am – 5pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 6 Skiing Skill
Reach Level 3 Fitness Skill

➡️ Professional Skier ~ You’re officially a pro! You’ve learned a lot of tricks on the slopes and have even tried the ludicrous slopes when the mood takes you. Keep this up and those big competitions won’t be far away! You’ve competed internationally and finished pretty well, so it won’t be long now! Look after yourself, take regular breaks and you’ll be just fine.
§175/hour
Hours: 7am – 2pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 7 Skiing Skill
Reach Level 4 Fitness Skill
Ski 20 Times

➡️ Freestyle Skier ~ There are many avenues of skiing to explore and your current foray into the world of freestyle skiing is proving to be a fruitful one. There is competition after competition lined up for you and you’ve won many accolades in the field. The slopes are as familiar to you as the back of your hand, so don’t lose focus now!
§210/hour
Hours: 8am – 2pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 8 Skiing Skill
Reach Level 5 Fitness Skill
Ski 25 Times

➡️ Ski Jumper ~ Ski jumping is something you’ve been experimenting with for many years. It’s daring, courageous and leads to more injuries than you’ve had hot dinners but it’s also exhilarating. To fly through the crisp mountain air and land with precision and skill on the slope is truly an experience. It’s time to take this incredible experience to the competitions. Who knows where you’ll go from here?
§275/hour
Hours: 8am – 2pm
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
Objectives: Reach Level 9 Skiing Skill
Reach Level 6 Fitness Skill
Ski 30 Times

➡️ Ski Instructor ~ What better way to improve your knowledge of a skill than to teach it to someone else? You’ve got an excellent job as a ski instructor at your local school; the very same school that made you what you are today. Most of your competitive days are behind you and it’s time to train the next generation of skiers into being as brilliant as you always have been.
§300/hour

 Known Issues:

For reasons known only to Sims 4, in spite of completing all work from home tasks, sometimes the boss is disappointed with the work done. I don’t actually know why this happens but, as you can see with the notifications above, you get the money all the same so it’s not a serious issue. Just the notification is a bit off.

I hope you have as much fun with the career as I had making it.  Happy Simming!

  1. Hi

Please check your careers, I got BE, LE and MCCC error when I chose these careers for sims about:
    MissyHissy_Whimset_Career_Skier
    MissyHissy_Whimset_Career_Snowboarder
    MissyHissy_Whimset_Career_Archaeology

    Thank you 🙂

      1. I have double checked and am using the latest files. Try one career per household if you want to see the error, because they gives whim_tracker error for only one career at a time.
Skiing and snowboarding careers are sure give error messages. I didn’t try the archaeologist separately.

      2. Okay, I know what that’ll be. I do apologise, I thought I’d updated them ages ago but perhaps I didn’t.
I’ll get them updated on Friday when I’m doing a larger set of updates. Thanks very much for letting me know and I apologise for the inconvenience!
