Tinkering with electronics and mechanical items is some Sims’ favorite pastime. They love upgrading their electronic items, programming on the computer and building robots. Sims with high handiness skill will be more into tinkering.

Enthusiasm

Once Sims have gained the Tinkering Hobby, they’ll have a hidden need to perform tinkering activities. Since this is similar to Sims 2’s Hobby Enthusiasm, that’s what I’m referring to.
This isn’t visible in the User Interface. However, you’ll receive a notification when your Sim’s hobby enthusiasm is low. Don’t worry; this takes 3 days to drop to this level if your Sim does nothing related to Tinkering in that time.
Autonomy

Sims with the Tinkering Hobby Trait will be more likely to do tinkering activities autonomously. All of these activities will boost a Sim’s hobby enthusiasm. These activities include, but are not exclusive to:
Upgrading Objects
Repairing Objects
Programming
Robotics (Discover University)
School Projects (Parenthood)

New Interactions

I’ve created a handful of new interactions that are unique to Sims with the Tinkering Hobby.
Blog About Tinkering ~ Any Sim can blog about their love for Tinkering. If you have adeepindigo’s Blogging Hobby mod, then Sims will also gain followers when they post. Additionally, these posts will count towards the total number of blog posts for the aspiration in that mod.
Browse Web About Tinkering ~ Sims can browse the web for ideas about Tinkering and will gain a moodlet when they’re done.
Write Tinkering Article ~ Sims can write an article to submit to a publication about Tinkering. When they’ve finished writing it, they can submit it and if it’s a good article and gets published, Sims may gain some fame (if Get Famous is installed).
Talk About Tinkering Hobby ~ Sims who share a hobby with be able to talk about it with each other. This will give a tiny boost to their enthusiasm.
Social Compatibility
With Version 3.3 of the mod, the Tinkering Hobby is classed under Hard-Working Sims and will count towards your Sim’s compatibility with them.

Wants

As always with my mods, the Tinkering hobby has a large list of wants attached to it. Many of these are already in-game but some have been created by me and are either a part of The Custom Wants Mod, or included in The Hobby Mod. Below is a list of the wants you can expect to see during gameplay.
