Mod Description

The Personality Mod is the first larger mod I’ve made for The Sims 4. It adds 12 reward traits to the Reward Store. Each of these traits are inspired by the six Aspirations from Sims 2: Family, Fortune, Knowledge, Pleasure, Popularity and Romance and there are primary and secondary versions of each (described below).

You Will Need:
  • Lot51’s Core Library ~ This enables the traits to be used with the Social Compatibility system. It doesn’t add anything to the game, it just allows the mod to work as intended.
  • Custom Wants Mod ~ This is a loader mod for all my custom wants, so if you want my new custom-made wants, you’ll need to download this too.
What Does It Do?

Each Primary trait costs 0 Satisfaction Points, so you can add the traits to newly created sims, straight out of Create-A-Sim. Secondary Traits cost 50 satisfaction points.

Each trait has it’s own set of Wants and those wants are directly inspired by the appropriate Wants from Sims 2. Because of this, the reward traits act like a base personality and influence the wants your Sim puts in.
For example, a Fortune Sim may wish to own their own business; a Family Sim may want to have a baby or adopt a dog; A Knowledge Sim will be curious about the supernatural etc.
The traits do not have any Buffs or interactions associated with them; just wants.

The Aspiration Addon Package

In the separate addon package, there are three new traits: Grilled Cheese, Power and Creativity, due to popular request. These are NOT essential but more an optional extra, should you want them. These also have Primary and Secondary versions.

The Wants

While there were some excellent wants available to suit each trait, I felt like many were missing. As a result, I set about creating my own. The Custom Wants Mod contains dozens of new wants and many have been assigned to the traits from The Personality mod. Among those wants are several wants for individual careers. Each of those wants will only turn up if a Sim has certain traits or skills, so they won’t be random.

Once again, the new wants are based on Wants from Sims 2 and should line up fairly nicely.

Primary And Secondary Traits

With the 1st February 2023 update, I added the option of having primary and secondary traits. Previously, you could add as many as you like to simulate this but now, you can have one of each.
In the reward store, each trait now denotes if it’s a primary or secondary trait. Primary traits still cost 0 satisfaction points; secondary traits cost 50 points.

The main difference here is that Wants from Primary traits have greater priority over Wants from Secondary traits.

Randomisation

If you don’t want to choose the personality trait for your Sims, you can randomise it.
With cheats enabled, shift + click on your Sim to bring up an interaction to Randomise Primary Trait and Randomise Secondary trait inside The Personality Mod. This will be calculated based on your Sim’s aspiration, traits and preferences and should therefore provide you with a personality trait that fits your Sim.

Compatibility

This mod doesn’t conflict with any other mods at this time.

The Technical Details

This mod is Base Game Compatible.
The traits are all integrated with the social compatibility system:
Family Sim ~ Family-Motivated Sims
Fortune Sim ~ Hard-Working Sims
Knowledge Sim ~ Cerebral Sims
Pleasure Sim ~ High-Energy Sims
Popularity Sim ~ Spirited Sims
Romance Sim ~ Romance-Enthusiasts
Creativity Sim ~ Idealist Sims
Power Sim ~ Hard-Working Sims

The mod currently supports the following translations:
English (Me)
Chinese (GreenOnionC, 1beijiu, Download Here)
Danish (Josie)
Dutch (Britt Boons)(GothiqueAngel)
French (Kimikosoma)(Download Here)
German (Hendrik McSims)
Italian (Isy)
Polish (webkinzfrog, Full translation by Daisy1728, Download Here)
Portuguese (Viniciousvill) (abronte)
Russian (Origamika GroupJoliebean)
Spanish (Sabrina Garcia, Full translation by Laura. Download Here)

~ The Grilled Cheese Sim trait currently has no Wants attached to it. This is because Maxis decided not to update any of the whims I’d used with this, so I’ll need to do it myself. Watch this space!

Planned Updates

In the future, I plan a few updates for the mod:

~ New wants: I want to include some new wants relating to later packs. Additionally, I want to include a few more to line up better with Sims 2; particularly for Pleasure, Family and Romance sims.
~ An interaction to allow Sims to discover another Sim’s personality.

  1. Hey, so I’ve been having a problem with randomizing the sims’ primary or secondary sim traits and I’m not sure what to do. I’ve already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the mod as well as repairing the game, so I’m not sure what more to do.

    1. Okay, what’s the problem?
If your Sim already has a primary or secondary trait, then the randomisation doesn’t work. So check firstly that the Sim doesn’t already have any of the traits.
Secondly, have you got the latest version of Core Library installed?

      1. Yes my sim does have a primary and secondary trait, and I have also just reinstalled my core mods. But whenever I go into the shop to buy the traits it says my sim hasn’t the right age to buy them.

      2. If they already have a Primary and Secondary, then the randomiser won’t work, nor will they be able to purchase any new ones. Your Sim can only have 1 primary and 1 secondary trait.

  2. Hello, where is the mod supposed to show up? I seem to have no menus or anything anywhere. I also don’t have the traits in reward shop for some strange reason.

I do have biechens whole production, MCCC and some MissyHissys mods in my folder.

I have triple checked by this point that I installed the required library and your custom wants.

    1. Check you’ve got the latest version of Core Library and that it’s no deeper than one subfolder. Also make sure you have no older versions of Core Library.
The traits should show in the reward store but you should also get some cheats for adding or randomising traits.

  3. Love this so much! Have you considered allowing the option for Sims to get it randomized each time a Sim loads in, including NPC? It would help with not having to shift click every Sim manually. Or incorporating social autonomy with this mod?

    Like

    1. I am working on a separate version that includes social autonomy, since this isn’t something that many people want, apparently. I’m keen though, so it is in the works.
I hadn’t included automatic randomisation because, generally, it’s needed scripting (which is beyond my scope). However, there might be something I can do all the same. Thanks for the suggestions!

  4. Hello!
I seem to have an issue with this specific mod after the latest patch.

I can’t load in CAS when I’m in game. Not sure if I have some sort of incompatibility going on, but after taking out the Personality Mod from the folder, everything was working out fine.
I have all of the other mods you created, custom wants, hobby mod and hopes n fears. With those I have no issues! 🙂

    1. That’s strange. Have you made sure you don’t have any duplicates of the mod? No older versions?
Have you tested with just the Personality Mod and it’s requirements? No other mods installed?

The main reason I ask is because The Personality Mod doesn’t touch CAS at all – the traits are from the reward store. So if you have duplicates, that could be causing it.
Also, delete and redownload the mod – sometimes issues occur during downloading (no idea why).
Let me know how you get on!

      1. Thank you for help! I checked the core library, its directly in my mods folder so no problems should be originating from that. At least I think so because I think lot51_core.ts4script should be it, and I have it updated to latest version. I will try redowloading all the files once more because I really really want to play with this mod, I miss it so much

      2. Hello! I tried reinstalling the mod but it didn’t fix issue. I also can’t get your hobby mod to work (I was trying to get it at the same time). Not only the traits don’t show up at store but there are also nothing in the menus when I click sims, at least nothing related to your mods… I see adeepingos healthcare menu and first impressions cheat menu pop up under actions but there is nothing about personality or hobby mods. I also checked all other pie menus and can’t see it.

      3. Okay, that’s odd. I’ll try and check up on it when I can. I haven’t had any other reports so in the meantime, could you test with only Core Library and The Personality Mod in and see if it makes a difference, please? It might help to see what’s going on. Thanks!

      4. Absolutely, Ill test it like that and get back to you asap. I agree mod conflict is probably something to look into!

      5. I think I’ve gone insane or something? Or I’m about to win dumbest simmer to walk the earth award. Because now I only have these https://imgur.com/IZTeyPM and I’m still not finding the reward traits OR finding any menus. Is it possible I have installed the mod completely wrong? I swear I did try to read instructions at least 15x times . I almost fear the answer but on the bright side if I have installed it wrong and we figure it out then I finally get to play with it!

      6. I just want to check: mods are enabled in the menu, yes? Patches often disable mods and the game update before the new EP disabled them. So double check that and that script mods are enabled. That’s always a possibility.
If none of that is the issue then I’ll look into it when I get a chance!

      7. Thank you for all the effort ❤ I feel like worlds worst person for taking your time because you are such a genius and absolute angel to our community, but I’m thankful that you looked through my installation to make sure that nothing in picture was a miss.

Yes both mods and script mods spesifically are enabled, and I haven’t noticed anything else not working – granted, I mostly don’t have that many script mods so maybe it’s worth it switching that feature back and forth couple of times just to make sure that there isn’t some weird bug to it on my side. I will do that but if it doesn’t work and magically make your mods appear (at this point I refuse to play without them) then idk.

      8. Okay now I have tried first disabling then enabling the mods and script mods with several restarts in between. No luck still.

The only thing I noticed is that when I read through last exception reports made by what I think would be MCCC (I think?) I find there is something about failure in “lot51_core.snippets.injector” . Hopefully that isn’t part of core library!

I uploaded the whole error here in case it’s actually something that has anything to do with why mods aren’t showing up just so that you don’t scratch your head for no reason if this is my fault! https://app.box.com/s/m6dclnwcaqvm9mtc4jwo0pp9i8jgkqi9

      9. Okay! Grab the newest version of Core Library (there was an update yesterday, I believe!). It looks like it fixes the exact error you received! So give that a try and let me know if it works!

  5. Hello! For some reason I don’t get any new wants from this mod (the mod itself shows up in game and I can choose personality for my sims), I have custom wants and Hobby mod installed and my sims get wants for hobbies, but never wants associated with their personalities. Why can this happen? It was fine before the latest update

    Like

      1. Hello again! I deleted the personalities from my sims and gave it to them again, and that seemed to work, wants related to their personalities show up now (both primary and secondary). Have no idea why it didn’t work before
