While school can be a drag for most, some Sims thrive on learning new things. Learning and discovering new locations and cultures, or even delving into the history of SimNation can be a thrilling hobby.
Enthusiasm

Once Sims have gained the Learning & Discovery Hobby, they’ll have a hidden need to perform hobby-related activities. Since this is similar to Sims 2’s Hobby Enthusiasm, that’s what I’m referring to.
This isn’t visible in the User Interface. However, you’ll receive a notification when your Sim’s hobby enthusiasm is low. Don’t worry; this takes 3 days to drop to this level if your Sim does nothing related to Learning & Discovery in that time.

Autonomy

Sims with the Learning & Discovery Hobby Trait will be more likely to do educational activities autonomously. All of these activities will boost a Sim’s hobby enthusiasm. These activities include, but are not exclusive to:
Browsing Simpedia
Watching News
Doing Homework
Research Skills On the Archive Machine (Discover University)
Contribute Knowledge (Discover University)
Debate on the Podium (Discover University)
Study at University (Discover University)
Research Vampires (Vampires)
Work on School Projects (Parenthood)
Archaeology (Jungle Adventure)
Learning about Selvadoradian Culture (Jungle Adventure)
Researching Strangerville (Strangerville)
Researching Spells and Potions (Realm of Magic)

New Interactions

I’ve created a handful of new interactions that are unique to Sims with the Arts & Crafts Hobby.
Blog About Learning & Discovery ~ Any Sim can blog about their love for Learning & Discovery. If you have adeepindigo’s Blogging Hobby mod, then Sims will also gain followers when they post. Additionally, these posts will count towards the total number of blog posts for the aspiration in that mod.
Browse Web About Learning & Discovery ~ Sims can browse the web for ideas about Learning & Discovery and will gain a moodlet when they’re done.
Write Learning & Discovery Article ~ Sims can write an article to submit to a publication about Learning & Discovery. When they’ve finished writing it, they can submit it and if it’s a good article and gets published, Sims may gain some fame (if Get Famous is installed).
Join Archaeological Society ~ For a one-off fee of §50, Sims can join the Archaeological Society (feature list below, more to come).
Talk About Learning & Discovery Hobby ~ Sims who share a hobby with be able to talk about it with each other. This will give a tiny boost to their enthusiasm.
Social Compatibility
With Version 3.3 of the mod, the Learning & Discovery Hobby is classed under Cerebral Sims and will count towards your Sim’s compatibility with them.

Wants

As always with my mods, the Learning & Discovery hobby has a large list of wants attached to it. Many of these are already in-game but some have been created by me and are either a part of The Custom Wants Mod, or included in The Hobby Mod. Below is a list of the wants you can expect to see during gameplay.
